Marshfield Band Boosters
September 8, 2009 Minutes
President Craig Owens called the meeting to order with the following members and directors present:
Craig Owens Jeannie Moreno Kevin Crowley
Lori Hutton Tess Johnson Vona King
Laura Vinehout Jeremy Meyer
Treasurer Jeannie Moreno’s report showed a balance of $2,664.42.
Craig reported that the Band Boosters had an opportunity to work concessions for three 9th and JV football games with a guaranteed profit of $300. The first game was worked last night. Workers are needed for the Oct. 5 game. There are workers available for the Oct. 12 game.
Old Business:
The paper for this year’s Blue Jay cards was too heavy for copy. Craig had gotten different paper and taken it to Joni Seymour today. Hopefully the cards will be available for sale soon.
Three schools have not paid JH Band Festival fees amounting to about $200. Mr. Crowley asked the Band Boosters to generate an invoice for the Marshfield Schools illustrating the savings they incur from having the festival here.
Consensus was to continue selling Band Booster T-shirts and hoodies. Craig will check for updated costs and orders will be taken for the items.
Mr. Meyer is working on the Webster Electric grant. He is looking for an organization with tax exempt status to partner with in making the grant application as instructed by Bobbi Ragsdale at Webster Electric. Organizations mentioned were the Optimist Club, the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, and PTSG.
New Business:
Due to schedule conflicts the following meeting dates were agreed upon:
October 6
November 3
December 1
February 2
March 9
April 13
May 11
Mr. Crowley asked the Boosters to consider purchasing a Smart Board for the JH and HS Band rooms to go along with the projectors the school is installing in each classroom. The Technology team suggested a larger one for the size of the classroom. The estimated cost is $1300 each. Ms. Hutton mentioned the need for a receiver and speaker for each board.
The first halftime show will be Friday, September 11. It will consist of a medley of Michael Jackson songs arranged by Mr. Meyer. The band has three back to back games.
Mr. Crowley has a canopy tent he offered to loan the Boosters while selling Blue Jay cards and band wear at football games.
Mr. Crowley would like for the students to continue working on their trip accounts by selling opportunities. Donated items would be helpful. Other fund raisers were discussed including working Springfield concessions; Pay to Play, Pay to Go Away; Halloween insurance; and Band Patrons.
The meeting was adjourned.
Next meeting will be October 6, 6:00 p.m. at the High School Band room.
