Marshfield Band Boosters

Minutes 10-6-09

 

President Craig Owens called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following members and directors present:

Treasurer, Jeannie Moreno reported a balance in the band account of $6,990.42.  However, the $4,026 deposited from the Colorguard fundraiser will be dispersed among the Colorguard, Jazz Band, and Europe trip students participating in the fund raiser and the fund raising company.  The balance in the other accounts is $6,692.10

 

Old Business:

All officers were retained for the coming year.

Joy Burnett agreed to take notes for Vona King in case she was unable to attend a meeting.

 

Craig passed out information about the results of the 2009-2010 Blue Jay Card Sales contest.  The 7th grade sold 137 cards with 36 of 100 students participating.  First place-Alex Mashburn-14 cards, second place-Steven Michael-12 cards, third place-Jason Merrill-11 cards.  The 8th grade sold 106 cards with 15 of 59 students participating.  First place-Jake Nosler-24 cards, second place-Jarin Bingham-20 cards, third place-Courtney Maples-15 cards.  The HS sold 83 cards with 22 of 108 students participating.  First place-Clayton Burks and Victoria Visconte-10 cards, second place-Elizabeth Campbell and Deanna Whited-6 cards, and third place-Chris Lent, Alicia Vaxquez, Holly Cravens-5 cards.

Discussion was held about the need to set additional guidelines for claiming prizes for next year.  Mr. Crowley suggested using the Golf format for dealing with ties.

Blue Jay cards are still being sold.

 

The purchase of Smartboards ($800-$1300 each plus speaker system) for the JH and HS was mentioned.  The JH has a projector but is waiting for an outlet.  The HS has no projector at the present.  No action was taken.

 

New Business:

Ms. Hutton reported for Mr. Meyer that the Drumline will be performing at the Marshfield Business Expo this Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10:00 a.m.  Band Boosters can have a free booth to sell Blue Jay cards.  Craig will ask Sue Esquivel to use the call list to find someone to help at the booth.

 

Ms. Hutton reported that next Tuesday, October 13, will be the 6th grade songflute and 7th grade band concert.  The 6th graders are very excited about the concert.  The Band Boosters will have a table at the concert to sell Blue Jay cards and take T-shirt orders.  Craig and Roberta will man the table.

The Colorguard, Jazz band and Europe trip students have finished their fund raiser and did well.

 

Mr. Crowley reported there will be two more home football games, October 16 and 29.  An end of the season Marching Band party is being planned for October 30.  Attendance at the party is optional.  Students will help furnish food.  Mr. Crowley asked if the Boosters would furnish hot dogs and buns.  Doug Burnett moved to supply the hot dogs and buns, Roberta Vasquez seconded, motion carried.

 

The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.

Next meeting will be November 3, 6:00 p.m. at the HS band room.
