Marshfield Band Boosters Minutes

December 1, 2009

 

President Craig Owens called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.with the following members and directors present:

Treasurer Jeannie Moreno sent a report showing a balance in the checking account of $5126.63.

 

Old Business:

Nothing to report on patron sales.

DVD recordings were not satisfactory enough to reproduce and sell.

Ipod chances are now being sold.

Decals—Toni Lorenz passed around several possible design options for the decals. Joy Burnett made a motion to purchase 2 of the designs (Marshfield Band and Marshfield Band Geek) for fund raising sales.  The decals will be white. Becky Totten seconded.  Motion carried. Purchase price is $2 and sale price is $5. 

No progress has been made on installing a projector in the HS band room.

 

New Business:

Ms. Hutton sent the following report.  Thanks to Sue Esquivel and Toni Lorenz for helping with the hospitality room for District JH Band.

The following made District Jazz Band: Bill Joyce—alto sax, tenor sax and piano; Britton Seymour—guitar; Ariel Moss—tenor sax; Katie Day—drumset; Megan Land—trombone alternate.  They had rehearsal and concert November 21.

The following made 7th Grade Honor Band: Aimee Hendrycks—flute, CJ Volkmann—clarinet, Genese Villinese—bass clarinet, Sabrina Keeling—alto sax, Nicholas Reed—tenor sax, Brandon Mackey—bari sax, Tanner Stuart—trumpet, Moriah Johns—French horn, Lance Cleek—baritone, Eli Hungerford—tuba, Jacob Cornman—percussion.  Rehearsal and concert November 21.

December 5 will be State Jazz auditions.  Will take students to Columbia, MO on Friday, December 4.  Those students who make the All State Jazz Band will perform at the state Music Conference in January at TanTarA.

December 8 is JH Band Concert.  Seventh grade, eighth grade bands and HS Jazz Band 1 will perform in the JH gym at 7 p.m.

December 10 is HS Band concert at 7:30 in HS gym. HS band and Jazz Band 1 will perform.

Color guard auditions for 2010-2011 are being held this week after school.  Final try-out will be Friday and results will be posted Monday morning.

 

Ms. Hutton requested that someone contact Doug and Tina Knight at Marshfield Greenhouse about supplying poinsettias for the concerts.  Craig will contact Sue Esquivel to take care of it.  Joy Burnett moved to give the Knights a $25 gift card to Wal-Mart for supplying flowers.  Becky Totten seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Mr. Crowley’s report:

The pit band for the play did well.  Band Boosters bought T-shirts for the members.

Seven eighth graders participated in the JH District Band.

HS and 8th grade bands performed a Veterans Day concert.

December 4 and 5 five students will be auditioning for All State Band.

Someone is needed to pass out programs and CD order forms at the Christmas concerts.  Joy, Becky and Vona will help at the HS concert. Craig will assist at the JH concert.

The HS band performs its Christmas concert for the student body during finals week.

The Marshfield Christmas parade will be December 12 at 4:30 p.m.  HS and 8th grade bands march.

The Pep band has performed at two ballgames.  Band Boosters provided T-shirts for the Pep band members.
