7th Grade

Grading Scale

All 7th graders should bring their Standard of Excellence Book 1 with them the 1st two weeks of school.  We will begin the Standard of Excellence Book 2 during the 2nd week of school.  All students need to have their own book.

The seventh grade band is using the Standard of Excellence Book 2 this year.  All band members should have their own book.  Also, all clarinets should have 4 good reeds at all times in their case.  All trumpets, French horns, baritones and tuba should have valve oil and slide grease and trombones should have slide oil and slide grease.  You should use these frequently in order for your instrument to work properly.  All percussionists should have a pair of snare sticks, a pair of mallet sticks, and a stick bag to hold, protect and transport back and forth from home to school.

Music Festival

The 7th Grade Band will be performing at the JH Music Festival on Saturday, March 14th at Marshfield JH.  This is a required performance and the band will perform in the gym and be critiqued and rated by three judges.  In addition to the band performing, 7th grade band students may also participate by performing a solo at the music festival.  This is optional and will involve the student learning a solo, receiving extra help after school and practicing with an accompanist either during the band hour or after school.  The music festival is open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend.
