Jazz Band Letter Guidelines
In order to earn a position in Jazz Band and a Jazz Band letter, members must:
1. Be present at every practice and performance.
2. Be early to every practice and performance, have all equipment
in working order and have all music and a pencil at each
rehearsal. Band members should be in place and warming up
by the start of each rehearsal and performance. All rehearsals
begin on time.
3. Stay for the entire practice or performance. This means make-up tests or meetings with teachers should be done at another time other than rehearsal. Do not let yourself be scheduled to work on rehearsal or performance dates. Let your boss know your schedule ahead of time.
4. Wear the Jazz Band uniform at all performances: black pants or skirt, white long sleeve button up shirt, and jazz band tie. (Jazz Band tie will be checked out to each member).
5. Exhibit appropriate behavior at all practices and performances.
6. Master their music outside of jazz band rehearsal. Help is available—just ask.

The only excused tardies or absences are those resulting from illness or family emergencies. If there is a school conflict, let the director know in advance so it can be worked out. After school jobs will not be excused.
