Marshfield Band Boosters
Minutes, September 2, 2008
President Craig Owens called the meeting to order with the following members and directors present:
Lori Hutton Kevin Crowley Becky Totten
Craig Owens Roberta Vasquez Sue Esquivel
Vona King
Old Business:
Craig passed around a sample of the new Blue Jay card. He noted that Subway had pulled their endorsement. He will attempt to find a replacement. Several suggestions of locally owned businesses were made for him to investigate. Some minor changes need to be made to the card, and then it will be ready to be printed. Giving the students $5 of the card sales for their trip account was mentioned, but no action was taken. A complimentary card will be given to participating business managers as a thank you.
Craig reported that Coach Randolph was agreeable to having a table with a banner at the football games to sell Blue Jay cards. Although Coach Randolph was not specific, Craig felt he indicated that a portion of food sales by the Band Boosters would need to be contributed to the Football Boosters. Consensus was to not sell food items.
Sue Esquivel had prepared an order form for Blue Jay card sales.
Becky Totten will look into the prices of short and long sleeve T-shirts and sweatshirts for Band Boosters.
Sue Esquivel had information about a Coca-Cola Truckload Fundraiser. Lori Hutton will find more information about mum sales. Pancake night at McDonalds was discussed as a possible fund raiser.
Jeannie Moreno was unable to attend due to illness, but phoned Craig with a report of a current balance of $4363.
New Business:
Lori Hutton reported that the JH 6th and 7th grade concert will be October 21. Jazz Band has had an organizational meeting and will begin September 8.
Mr. Crowley reported that the HS band had their first half time performance August 29. They did a Blues Brothers show. The band and color guard performed well. Ms. Hutton noted that the new percussion instruments greatly improved the sound of the band. The band performs again September 4th. The next home football game will not be until October 3rd. At that time the band will perform an original Wizard of Oz show written by Mr. Meyer. The drum majors will dress as Dorothy, The Scarecrow and The Cowardly Lion. Mr. Crowley asked for a $200 allowance to help rent costumes. Craig made a motion to grant the allowance, Sue Esquivel seconded, and the motion was approved.
Band Booster meeting dates have been posted on the band website.
The next meeting will be October 7. Election of officers will occur at that time.
The meeting adjourned at 6:50.
Respectfully submitted,
Vona King
